I don't think this move will have the price-lowering effect many envision. Beyond that, I don't see Frontier sticking around any longer than whatever length of time they are required. This whole problem will still exist a year and a half from now. Add in the price of oil and the consolidation of the airline industry, and the issue might be worse at that time.
I heard the Mayor and his staff wanted to sweeten the pot. Where will this honey pot come from? The reserves? I hope not!
Frontier has more information on its website about the new SF flights starting July 4.http://www.frontierairlines.com/frontier/specials/online-deals-details.do?name=DENFSDIt says prices from $74 SF-DEN. For someone like me trying to get back to Wheaton, MN to see my family or Sioux City to see my wife's family, this is great news. It was previously unaffordable to fly into SF or SCity from here. But the Denver connection will easily make for $300 round trips or less.
Bringing Frontier to SF is something the Airport Authority has been working on for the last 5 years. It has nothing to do with the mayor although he is taking credit for it!!!! What a joke!!!!!!!
